Rain Rain, Go Away

All this rainy weather is making me drenched. Sure, I have my Henri Bendel rain boots, but it's an unreasonable garment to wear in 100 degree weather. So is a trench, but that's besides the point. I am lusting over Abercrombie's short and sweet classic trench that would be absolutely perfect for fall. But at $200, I'd rather splurge on a clearanced Burberry instead.

Stars in My Ears

In Korea, I spent an extravagant amount of money. In fact, I'd rather not think about it. However, I came back with a mound of wonderful things- one of them being these star bedazzled headphones. They are originally from Japan but I bought them in Hongdae, my favorite sector of Seoul. The sound quality isn't the best, but I'm all about aesthetics over sound quality. Haha.

The Most Feminine Truck

This is seriously the best picture I took in Korea. It is a pink truck in the artsy neighborhood of Hongdae! Apparently, it was in a popular Korean movie called Cinderella Man. And if you go to the site, it's actually a clothing site! But really, I wouldn't mind this as my source of transportation. ^^

An Extra Boost

All young women (or just women in general, actually) in Seoul wears heels. All. The. Time. I don't know why (perhaps it is the lack of height) but if you don't wear heels, you're considered odd in this society. How women claim to this feat, I have no idea since you have to walk EVERYWHERE. Sure there's subways and busses, but to an extent you have to walk a lot to live in Seoul.

But as I was surrounded by heels for 3 weeks, I have garnered a soft spot for them. So when we returned to America I have been hunting for a perfect pair- and I have come up with these J. Crew wonders. Stacked with a wooden heel (a la Yves Saint Laurent) and perfected with grey patent leather, they are so me. But the $140 price tag is a bit hindering...

You're My Ray of Sunshine

This is seriously one of the best bicycles I have ever seen. Sure, I love the simplicity of Muji bikes, but the bright ray of sunshine this bicycle gives off is irresistable. This was a Benetton bike right outside of my grandma's apartment in Seoul. Koreans are crazy about health, and everyone- from second graders that need to go to their respective tutors to those in their 60s -ride bikes all over Seoul. It's great- except when you're the pedestrian that almost gets run over. AKA me.

Come 'round to the Freak Show

This spread is so creative and beautiful. It featured a band- I forgot the name, but it was featured in Dazed & Confused. I always admired the circus theme and of course, the beautiful clothes.

Experimenting in Erin

I just got Adobe Photoshop today. I'm stumbling on the baby steps in order to use Photoshop more efficiently and fluently. It's hard! I've been reading listless tutorials, experimenting with all the tools, and wasting studying time thoroughly for approximately 3 hours. It's awesome! But for my first project, I endeavored to make a collage of Erin Fetherston. It turned out okay, but could use a lot of improvement. I adore Erin Fetherston for her whimsical designs and her intelligence and how she is simply best friends with all my idols- including Zooey Deschanel. Hopefully I'll be able to save up the dough for one her frothy dresses.

Adorned with Pastries

Found this Voguegirl spread on Fashion is Spinach and adored it first sight! I really envy this girl right here. Surrounded by cupcakes, tiere cakes, macaroons... Yes, I still adore tea parties and no, I still did not have mine yet!

Mon cheri...

I had just finished Cheri, Colette's masterpiece of a romance novel. It's soon coming out in a movie form, starring Rupert Friend and Michelle Pfeiffer. Reading this delectable piece makes me eager to see the sparks between Rupert and Michelle even more. Although it's roughly translated from French to English, Colette still manages to instill a great theme of age, beauty, and meaning of life. Personally, I love the character of Lea, the 50 year old cougar that lured in the young Cheri. She represents all independent women through her personal wealth, personality, and how she carries herself. Although I do admit, having an affair with a 20 year old man when you are in your 50s is a bit creepy, I love her for not depending on anyone and being fiercely herself. Cheers to Colette.

Ka-BLOOM Les Fleurs!

Credit : i'm not sure :x
I've been wanting to put a vase of fresh flowers in my room for a long time now, but they are very unpractical for me. Firstly, I'm broke, so I can't afford the beautiful bouquets and they are so temporary that my cheapo self can not bring myself to buy $40 flowers that'll last me a week. But I'm determined to change myself this summer. The months that I'm home, I'm going to collect wildflowers from the forest beyond my backyard and collect them in a beautiful vase. Hopefully I don't have severe allergies... Haha

Hope

Vintage Fountains

I completely forgot where I got this from... I got it a few days ago too! :x But anyways, I love this picture for its vintage lighting, perfect dress, and the fountains remind me of DC, my home sweet home. Or close to it. It's been raining all week and this makes me crave for true summer to arrive...

I always fall behind looking through collections when fashion week comes around, so I usually rely on blogs or magazines to get my fashion week fix. But with less collections in the pre-fall, I decided to check it out. As a fan of all things Lanvin, I absolutely adored Alber Elbaz's latest collection. Definately rich girl gone wild, it was a perfect mix of tulle, pearls, and a streak of black eyeliner. If only I can afford those jumbo pearls...

Dear Diary

If you know me, you would know that I am absolutely obsessed with stationary. I love all sorts- from Hello Kitty pens to nice, buttery leathered Moleskines. For summer, I decided to record my adventures in a Moleskine, my first journal from the brand ever! Of course I got excited and read all sorts of sites about Moleskine such as Moleskinerie.com to the many Flickr groups dedicated to the legendary notebook brand. Finally, I decided on a medium sketchbook. It's perfect with its acid free pages and portfolio pocket at the back. I'm in love! I can't wait till I fill it up with all my happenings, photos, drawings, and rambles. Don't worry, I won't forget about this blog!

Sunshine

I forgot where I got this picture from. :x Sorry to whoever's this is! Anyway, I've been trying to capture light into my photographs lately. It's really hard! It doesn't help that the dreary New England weather is back either. Bleh. But this is among a collection of photographs that all capture light- which I adore. Beautiful and simple seems to be the theme- if only I can capture that on film!

Queen of Food

Anyone who knows me personally knows that I'm a major foodie. It's a miracle I'm not overweight. So yesterday, I took a trip to Boston to meet up with a close friend of mine and to shop. I lunched at Starbucks with my giftcard (hurrah for $50 Starbucks giftcards!!!) and ate pesto pasta with black tea lemonade. Yum. For dinner, we planned on eating at this really good Thai place, but we ran out of time, so we ate at Burger King instead. Haha, what a downgrade, right? Well, lucky for me, I've been wanting to try these burger shots for a while so I finally did! They were so cute but too much bread and too little meat. But otherwise good. I felt sick though. My friend said, "You would get sick after eating fast food." I'm also known in my friend circles as the health nut. Haha. What are your favorite foods? I'm eager to eat my weight today. Haha.

J'est tombé amoureux...

As the summer countdown begins (2 more weeks!) I am getting even more and more anxious for Korea. If you know Korean culture, you know that Korean fangirls are extremely crazy over boy bands. They are not of the best music quality, but the entertainment industry knows how to pick the best looking ones. One of the biggest boy groups of the moment is 2pm, a 7 member group of JYP. My favorite out of them all is the half Thai and half Chinese yummy boy, Nichkhun. His huge baby eyes along with his lean, tall body made me fall in love. But the black and white turtleneck? Uh, no.

Lolli, Lolli, Lolli, Lollipop

Sorry I'm spewing all this Korean stuff at you guys. I'm just super excited for my trip this summer! I have a whole list planned out and a Moleskine to record all my adventures. :) But more on that later. Currently, Lollipop by 2NE1 ft. Big Bang is replaying over and over in my head. Not only is the song addictive, the video features candy colored wardrobes of both Big Bang (the boys) and 2NE1 (the girls). Korea is super conservative when it comes to culture- songs that are slightly provacative can be banned in radio stations, tv, etc. So, Korean music and tv can get boring sometimes, filled with the same garbage just recycled constantly. 2NE1 is a good forray into a unique sense of self- breaking the mold. And of course it makes sense this new revolution is styled by Xin and Danny, both of whom are Daul Kim's friends. I can't wait to see what else they have in store!

Pourquoi la mode est important?

After I left Yves Saint Laurent, I wanted to quit fashion and travel the world. I read an article about a mother. Her son got injured in a terror attack and he lost his legs. He was 7 years old. This mother left her other four kids and her husband and her job and took this boy to a little room they rented near the hospital. She took care of him for two years. Every time they put prosthetics on him, he'd grow, and they wouldn't fit, so they'd had to start all over. At that moment, you have to ask yourself: Is fashion important? Is it important to talk about luxury? Does it really matter if you're going to wear a red dress or not? Finally, I thought, Because of that woman, it is important. You make people dream. You make people think. You have to give them stories. You have to introduce fantasy. Fashion is how we bring them into the world today. That is my job.

Polka Dotted Perfection

Credit : Kate Spade
I'm a huge stationary nerd. I love collecting all sorts of pens, pencils, notebooks, etc. I mean, I'm already thinking about back to school shopping for next year! Today, I went shopping at the outlets and whilst I was there, I went to the Kate Spade store, which I found the most incredible pencil case. Well, it's intended to be a cosmetics case, but no matter. It's on sale online for only $32, and it will be mine!
